FOOD OBSESSION AND LAST MEALS

Out of desperation (on only Day 3 of NaBloPoMo), I was going to write about my youngest man's food obsession - and I still will - but as it so happens, NaBloPoMo's writing prompt for today is also food related so I am going to combine the two (as you do).

On the 1st of January this year, Samuel had his first Baby Mum-Mum Rice Rusk (plain variety). I remember the day because we spent it at the beach and my friend Cherie had some handy for her own daughter and gave Samuel one.

I honestly buy in bulk!

He eats non-stop - our favourite little Hippo!

Well, he has not stopped eating them since. He's moved on to the Banana and Vegetable variety but he can honestly go through a whole box in a couple of days! There are 18 in each box and he usually has one in each hand. He's also taken to rejecting them if they are broken/snapped in two (an easy occurrence with these thin rusks)! Talk about fussy!

Thomas and Daniel were never rusk-obsessed. Their current food obsession though is, as you would probably guess, lollies and chocolate - not sure who they get that from? Ahem...moving on...

Anyway, the prompt for today is "If you knew that whatever you ate next would be your last meal, what would you want it to be?" Interesting question...I have thought about it before. Not sure if that's totally weird. I am a tad food-obsessed. It would probably have to be something like lasagna and chips! Yum! And if I got dessert too, then that would have to be something dripping in rich chocolate :)

Do you ever wonder what prisoners on death-row request for their last meal? I know, it's a little macabre to be thinking about it. In all honesty, you would think the person would have no appetite at that point! But alas, they do get a final meal...and someone even has a blog detailing all these final meals (I read somewhere that the state of Texas in the US drew criticism for publishing macabre details like final meals)! If you're interested, visit Dead Man Eating Weblog. Suffice to say, people are not worried about their health or waistlines at this point.

So do you or your children have a weird food obsession? What meal would you choose as your last?

  1. I must also be rather macabre because I too have wondered what my last meal on death row would be.
Can you have three courses? Cause I would have spaghetti as an entree, some kind of divine pizza as a main (with garlic bread of course), and chips as a side dish. Possibly a tiny bit of salad cause I don't think I would want to look fat in my coffin, and I would probably think that would somehow balance it out, and then some kind of divine Baskin Robbins Sundae with 4 differ types of ice cream, mud cake, hot fudge sauce and nuts.

Can you tell it's lunch time? :)

And for the record, I read this cause I saw your comment on twitter, about come and comment unless you are on an iPad and chose to come because I am on an iPad! I do all my blogging from my iPad and anyone who refuses to comment from one as an excuse is just being lazy! It is not hard at all!

Oh and I'm totally gonna follow you now for not making me feel like the only freak who thinks about death row meals!

  4. How funny that we wrote these posts so close together! As you know, it's a bowl of cereal for me. That really sounds so sad as I write it. Maybe with chocolate on it!! Hmmm, now that could work! :)
