About Me

I'm Cathy, the author of this little blog which has now been up and running since 2007! It started out as partly a scrap booking hobby blog but as my family grew, it became more and more about our lives. The Camera Chronicles is all about us - an online diary if you like - with posts about music and food occasionally thrown in. I feel like I'm creating a legacy for my children. Hopefully one day, after they get over the embarrassment, they'll be able to treasure it.

Here's a little bit more about me...

I've been married to Sam for 13 years and we have three lively boys to show for our love.

I've been both a solicitor and a teacher in previous lives and can see myself returning to teaching one day (maybe). At the moment my time is occupied with raising my boys, managing our household and helping my husband with a new business venture. I've possessed a love of writing (and reading) since day dot so this blog (and the many I read) are a bit of self-indulgence in an otherwise hectic life. I don't get much "me" time but blogging affords me a little 'down time'.

I'm a Leo by star sign but definitely not an extrovert. I'm a total homebody and would prefer to stay home in my pj's rather than paint the town red! However, when I do get the chance to get out (without children in tow), it's usually with family or great friends. Food, glorious food, and lots of laughter are absolute essentials at these get togethers.

I'm a chocolate and coffee lover, although I should indulge in both a lot less!

I'm a reality TV junkie which is a bit of a worry. I love the drama, but of course would never be part of a reality series myself!

My favourite flowers are tulips but any flower brightens my day. If I could afford to have fresh flowers in the house every day, I would! If I could afford to, I'd also have a full time cleaner and chef...oh, and maybe a nanny lol.

I've been a (sometimes long-suffering) Parramatta Eels fan since the day I was born. My Dad follows them and if I possess one stereotypical Leo trait, it's loyalty. I'll follow them forever. I attended the 2009 grand final, only a week after having my youngest son. Unfortunately, they lost (to Melbourne Storm, who were later stripped of their title due to overwhelming salary cap breaches), as they did disappointingly in 2001 in a heartbreaking loss to the Newcastle Knights. The last time they won the comp was in 1986, when I was in Year 6! So a long time between drinks!

I'm drawn to tales of tragedy and triumph and love reading biographies. They have always been my favourite genre. Many would be surprised by my fascination with Marilyn Monroe, but it's probably a culmination of many books and articles read about her. Hers was the ultimate story of triumph and tragedy, that has endured for over half a century!

I'm religious, although in a very private way. I don't get to church that often, but anybody who is close to me knows how deeply my faith runs. I thank God every day for my blessings.

The above was just a glimpse of who I am. You'll probably get to know me better by reading my blog, which I invite you to do. I love it when people leave comments as it's a way to get to know my readers better. So please feel free to stop by and say hi!
